Question 1

Can a platform be migrated without truly understanding it first?

Accepted Answer

Yes — and failing to do so is actually one of the main causes of failure
for modernization projects. Ellipsys automatically reconstructs dependencies,
usage, and processes before any migration takes place.

Question 2

Why do so many projects go over budget?

Accepted Answer

Because the real dependencies, usage patterns, and custom developments
are rarely known before the project starts.
Our probes and parsers automate this analysis phase.

Question 3

Do you need to document a system before modernizing it?

Accepted Answer

No. {openAudit} automatically reconstructs the data lineage,
usage, and technical documentation from the
existing platforms.

Question 4

Does data ever leave our infrastructure?

Accepted Answer

No. Ellipsys works exclusively on technical metadata.
Where necessary, this metadata can be anonymized before
any transfer and remains under the client’s control.

Question 5

Why reconstruct ETL processes in SQL?

Accepted Answer

Because SQL has become the common language of modern
analytics platforms. The generated processes feed
{oa-tbx}, our open SQL ETL.

Question 6

Does a migration force a new technology dependency?

Accepted Answer

No. The SQL processes can be run with {oa-tbx} in place of legacy ETL tools: it’s an open, containerized SQL ELT. BI layer processes are encapsulated in {oa-lake}, an open SQL interoperability layer between sources (db) and targets (BI) that includes a universal semantic layer.
